Alessandro Salviati, MD, PhD, Neurologist and Medical Geneticist, is the Head of the Laboratory for Biochemical and Molecular Diagnosis of Lysosomal Storage Disorders and Neurogenetic Unit at the University of Verona, Italy.

Dr Salviati completed his medical degree at the University of Padova and his residency in Neurology at the University of Verona. He completed a doctorate in Neurosciences at the University of Verona. He was Postdoctoral Fellow in Biochemistry of Lysosomal Storage Disorders at the Department of Neurology at Columbia University in New York. He then became Assistant Professor in Neurology at the University of Verona. Dr Salviati was also a Visiting Scientist at the Departments of Neurology and Pathology of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in Minnesota and later a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Verona. He is now Aggregate Professor in Neurology at the University of Verona. Dr Salviati is especially interested in innovative approaches to the diagnosis of Lysosomal Storage Disorders, such as NGS with biochemical phenotype confirmation, and he has published more than 50 international peer-reviewed papers.
