István Balogh, PhD, clinical laboratory geneticist, is the Director of the Division of Clinical Genetics at the University of Debrecen in Debrecen, Hungary.

Dr. Balogh earned his university degree (biologist) and PhD doctorate and completed his residency in Clinical Laboratory Genetics at the University of Debrecen, Debrecen, Hungary. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the University of Lund, Malmö, Sweden. Dr. Balogh has been the Director of the Division of Clinical Genetics at the University of Debrecen.
Dr. Balogh has extensive expertise as a basic scientist in human molecular genetics and biochemistry, and as a healthcare professional in the genetic diagnosis of rare disorders. He is a university lecturer and involved in both graduate and postgraduate teaching activities in field of genetic diagnosis.
Dr. Balogh published about 50 international peer reviewed scientific papers, most of them are related to pathomechanism, diagnosis and care of rare disorders.
