The MetabERN Exchange Programme, launched in late 2025, supports short-term mobility visits for young healthcare professionals at MetabERN member centres across various European countries. Building on the success of the previous programme, this new initiative aims to advance the sharing of expertise and foster collaboration between member centres, and enhance clinical and research expertise among emerging professionals in the Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD) field.
Eligible participants include a diverse range of healthcare professionals affiliated with MetabERN centres, such as medical doctors, nurses, dietitians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of Inherited Metabolic Disorders. Each exchange visit lasts between one to two weeks, providing opportunities for participants to engage directly with experts and peers, learn new skills and exchange best practices. This structured environment promotes active collaboration and innovative approaches to patient care.
During their visits, participants will have the opportunity to expand their expertise in specific areas of practice as outlined in the exchange visit plan they intend to achieve. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to forge lasting connections across borders, and gain a broader perspective on healthcare systems within the EU. By inspiring the next generation of IMD healthcare professionals, the MetabERN Exchange Programme aims to elevate the standard of care for IMD patients and strengthen the capacity of the network.
10 exchange visits can be granted for the first funding period (2025-2026). The deadline for applications is 31 January 2026.
