Prof. Fanny Mochel obtained her MD in 2005 at the University Necker-Enfants Malades, Paris V, France. From 2006 to 2010, she was first a research fellow at the Developmental and Metabolic Neurology branch of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She then moved to the Institute of Metabolic diseases at Baylor’s College. Her PhD was awarded on 2010 by the Paris VI University.
Since 2012, she joined the Brain and Spine Institute, where she has been developing her clinical research activities focusing on neurometabolic disorders in adults; therapeutic approaches for Glut1 deficiency, Huntington’s disease, leukodystrophies such as X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy; and identifying novel neuroimaging biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic efficiency.
Prof. Mochel is the director and coordinator of the Refence Center for Neurometabolic Diseases at la Pitié-Salpêtrière since 2017. She is also responsible of the Genetics Teaching Department at the Sorbonne University and chair of the Adult Section of the European Society for Inborn errors of Metabolism. Prof. Mochel has contributed to more than 180 publications on the field.
