She obtained her MD and PhD from the School of Medicine at Complutense University in Madrid (Spain).

She works as an specialist in adult patients with Inborn Errors of Metabolism at the Division of Internal Medicine as a part of the Unit of Mitochondrial and Hereditary Metabolic Diseases of “12 de Octubre” Hospital. This Unit is a National Reference Center for Inborn Metabolic Diseases.
She also works as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Complutense University, School of Medicine. She develops teaching activity with medical students, as well as training specialists of internal medicine and other medical specialists, from Spain and abroad.
She is actively involved in national and international scientific meetings regarding mithocondrial and metabolic diseases, as well as in the publication of scientific papers and book chapters related to these topics.
Nowadays she is specially involved in translational research activities on mitochondrial disorders, oxidative phosphorylation disorders, glycogenosis, beta oxidation of fatty acids, lysosomal diseases and other inborn errors of metabolism.
She is an active member of the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (SSIEM) and of the Spanish Association for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (AECOM).
