The Associazione Italiana Anderson-Fabry (AIAF), amid the COVID-19 emergency, hosted a series of meetings in the frame of the project “AIAF IN CONNESSIONE”. During these meetings, participants – including patients, families and healthcare professionals – discussed various topics related to the Anderson-Fabry disease.
On March 2021, on the occasion of an online meeting with patients in the frame of the project AIAF IN CONNESSIONE, Prof Maurizio Scarpa (Coordinator of MetabERN) gave a presentation in Italian language, explaining the mechanisms of action of the various COVID-19 vaccines available and illustrated the recommendations of the European Reference Networks (ERNs), which have indicated Lysosomal patients as a priority in the administration of vaccinations. These recommendations have been taken into consideration by the different Italian regions when setting the priorities in the vaccination campaign. During his presentation, he also reported the results of the European survey.
