Clinical Patient Management System

The first MetabERN virtual patients consultation has successfully taken place

We are glad to announce that the first MetabERN virtual patients consultation using the Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS) successfully took place on 15 January 2018. A second one is already scheduled for mid-February.

The CPMS has been released on 20 November 2017. It is a secure web-based application provided by the European Commission to support European Reference Networks in the diagnosis and treatment of rare or low prevalence complex diseases or conditions across national borders. The system will allow for virtual consultation across national borders, ensuring that the needed expertise can travel to the patient, instead of the other way around.

At this stage it is extremely important to test its functionality with as many cases as possible.

At the WebEx conference in November on the release of the CPMS it was in fact highlighted that this pilot phase will be an important part of the rollout plan. This phase will last until end of February 2018. It represents also an opportunity for users to gain experience in the system with real clinical data and with real consultations.

To this aim each leader of the 7 MetabERN subnetworks has been asked to identify 1-2 patients to be enrolled in order to be able to perform more virtual consultations.
