The 18th International Symposium on Mucopolysaccharidoses and Related Lysosomal Diseases will take place on June 4-7, 2026, in Florence, Italy at Palazzo Affari and Palazzo dei Congressi. This global event will reflect on the last 20 years of progress made in Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) and set sights on the next 20 years of innovation, advocacy, and collaboration.
The Symposium that has a long-lasting history, initially conceived as a small meeting to bring together researchers, clinicians, and families in 1988 has evolved into one of the most gatherings in the Lysosomal Diseases field and has been instrumental in fostering global collaborations and inspiring new directions in research and care.
Drawing on its tradition of collaboration, inclusivity, and impact, the International MPS 2026 Symposium aims to create a new standard for rare disease care. It seeks to showcase how the strong partnership between MPS patient associations and healthcare professionals can serve as a global model for speeding up medical advancements. The IMPSN Florence 2026 Symposium is co-hosted by the International MPS Network, Brains for Brain Foundation, and MetabERN.

On June 3rd, the MPS MasterClass 2026 – From Genes to Bedside: Essential Training for Young Physicians will be held in the Aula Magna of the Careggi University Hospital (AOU Careggi) as part of a pre-congressional in-person programme.
This intensive one-day masterclass will provide early-career physicians with comprehensive knowledge of Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS), from basic pathophysiology to contemporary management strategies. The programme emphasises clinical recognition, diagnostic approaches, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions, complemented by patient and family perspectives.
