10 Principles for Greater Patient Empowerment

COVID-19 pandemic has been placing overwhelming pressure on national and international health care systems. This has also impacted patient empowerment in the field of rare diseases.

What is this: The team of Weber Shandwick, in collaboration with EU patient groups, trade associations and policy-makers has produced a set of 10 principles and actions to aid future policy and advocacy efforts across 3 key areas:

• Health policy
• Research & development
• Access to treatment & care delivery

These 10 principles are meant to guide advocacy, campaigning and decision-making and to encourage dialogue with the various stakeholders to elaborate ways to promote greater patient empowerment.
